
Laitkor, June 30: The Director General of Assam Rifles, Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera, AVSM, SM, addressed all ranks during the Quarterly Sainik Sammelan held at HQ DGAR, Laitkor, Shillong on 30 June 2026, reviewing operational priorities and organisational welfare measures.
During his address, the DG emphasised the importance of professionalism, discipline, and sustained operational preparedness in view of the evolving global and regional security environment. He urged personnel to remain vigilant, adaptable, and mission-focused while continuing to uphold the highest standards of service.
He also briefed troops on key welfare and career-related developments, including the Force’s recommendations to the 8th Pay Commission and recently introduced promotion policies aimed at improving career progression and organisational efficiency. Stressing responsible conduct, he advised all ranks to use social media judiciously in line with service discipline and operational security norms.
In recognition of exemplary service, the Director General felicitated “Soldiers of the Month” and presented DG’s Commendation Cards to personnel for outstanding performance, dedication, and professionalism. He encouraged all ranks to continue striving for excellence and to contribute to the Force’s operational effectiveness and institutional growth.
The Sammelan served as a platform to reinforce leadership communication, boost morale, and reaffirm the organisational commitment of Assam Rifles towards national security duties in the North East and beyond.
