Lokhra, Oct 30: Director General Assam Rifles, Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera, AVSM, SM, on Friday inaugurated the Dhurba Jyoti Dutta Centre of Excellence at Lokhra in Assam, aimed at empowering youth of the North East through quality education, competitive examination coaching and mentorship.
The centre has been established to provide aspiring students with academic guidance, structured preparation and a supportive learning environment to help them compete in national-level entrance examinations.
Currently, 80 students, including 20 boys and 60 girls, are undergoing preparation for various competitive examinations at the centre. Of these, 73 students are preparing for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET), while seven are preparing for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE).
The students are being supported by a dedicated team comprising six teachers, four wardens and eight support staff to ensure academic guidance and a conducive residential learning environment.
The initiative reflects the Assam Rifles' commitment to nurturing young talent and expanding educational opportunities for students across the North Eastern region.
By providing focused coaching and mentorship, the centre seeks to help deserving students overcome barriers to quality competitive examination preparation and pursue careers in professional fields, particularly medicine and engineering.
The establishment of the Centre of Excellence also highlights the force's continued engagement in community development, with education being viewed as a key instrument for youth empowerment and socio-economic progress.
The Assam Rifles said the initiative is aimed at creating opportunities for the region's young generation and enabling them to realise their aspirations through education and sustained guidance.
