DG Assam Rifles pays tribute to martyred soldier

Shillong, June 25: Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera, AVSM, SM, Director General of Assam Rifles, along with all ranks of the force, paid solemn tribute to a valiant soldier who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty on June 25, 1990.

The remembrance was marked with deep respect and honour, acknowledging the courage, dedication and selfless service of the fallen soldier who laid down his life while serving the nation. Assam Rifles personnel observed the occasion by reaffirming their commitment to uphold the highest traditions of the force.
Officials said the martyr’s sacrifice continues to inspire generations of soldiers serving in the Northeast and along sensitive border areas, where Assam Rifles plays a crucial role in maintaining peace and security.
The Director General and all ranks saluted the braveheart and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family, stating that the nation remains indebted to the sacrifices made by its armed forces personnel.
