DG Assam Rifles reviews drone training node at Jalukie

Jalukie, Peren , June 24: Director General of Assam Rifles, Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera, AVSM, SM, visited the Drone Training Node at Jalukie in Peren district, reinforcing the force’s growing emphasis on technology-driven transformation and modern operational preparedness.

The visit focused on reviewing ongoing training modules, infrastructure development, and the integration of drone technology into operational and surveillance frameworks used by Assam Rifles in the Northeast region. The initiative is part of the force’s broader push to enhance situational awareness, improve real-time intelligence gathering, and strengthen operational efficiency in challenging terrain.
During the visit, the DG was briefed on various aspects of drone training being imparted to personnel, including aerial reconnaissance, surveillance operations, mapping, and tactical deployment in counter-insurgency and border security scenarios. He interacted with trainees and instructors, appreciating their efforts in adapting to emerging technological platforms.
A key highlight of the visit was the inspection of in-house fabrication capabilities developed at the training node. Lt Gen Lakhera reviewed indigenous efforts aimed at designing, assembling, and modifying drone systems and related equipment to suit field requirements. The focus on self-reliance and innovation was noted as a significant step toward reducing dependency on external systems and strengthening operational adaptability.
The DG emphasized the importance of continuous innovation and skill enhancement in keeping pace with rapidly evolving security challenges. He reiterated that modern warfare and security management increasingly rely on advanced technologies, and forces must remain agile, trained, and technologically proficient.
Officials noted that the Drone Training Node at Jalukie represents a key step in capacity building under Assam Rifles’ modernization initiatives.
