DG Assam Rifles reviews operational preparedness at Jalukie Battalion

Peren,, June 24: Director General of Assam Rifles, Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera, AVSM, SM, visited the Jalukie Battalion in Peren district to assess its operational preparedness and review overall functioning amid the prevailing security environment in the region.

During the visit, the DG was given a comprehensive briefing on the current security situation, operational deployments, and ongoing measures being undertaken to maintain peace and stability in the area. The briefing also covered intelligence inputs, counter-insurgency preparedness, and coordination mechanisms with other security agencies operating in the region.
Lt Gen Lakhera interacted with officers and troops of the battalion, engaging in discussions on ground-level challenges, operational readiness, and welfare aspects of personnel. He appreciated the professionalism, discipline, and dedication demonstrated by all ranks in carrying out their duties under demanding conditions.
Commending the battalion’s consistent performance, the Director General highlighted the critical role of Assam Rifles in ensuring peace and security in Nagaland and adjoining areas. He acknowledged the force’s continued commitment to safeguarding local communities while maintaining high operational standards.
In recognition of exemplary service and outstanding devotion to duty, Lt Gen Lakhera awarded On-the-Spot Commendation Cards to three soldiers during the visit. The gesture was aimed at motivating personnel and encouraging excellence in operational and support roles.
Addressing the troops, the DG emphasized the importance of maintaining a high level of vigilance and sustained operational readiness. He stressed that continuous training and professional development are essential to effectively respond to evolving security challenges.
He also underlined the significance of civil-military cooperation and community engagement in building trust and ensuring long-term stability in the region. According to him, meaningful interaction with local communities remains a key pillar in strengthening peace and supporting nation-building efforts.
The visit reaffirmed Assam Rifles’ commitment to operational excellence, discipline, and service to the nation, while reinforcing its role as a key stabilizing force in the Northeast region.
