Imphal, Jan 5: Lieutenant General Vikas Lakhera, AVSM, SM, Director General of Assam Rifles, visited the Headquarters of Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) on 4th and 5th January 2026 to review operational, administrative, and developmental activities of the formation.

During the visit, the Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) provided a detailed briefing on ongoing initiatives, highlighting both operational readiness and welfare measures for personnel. The DG was shown an Innovation Display, featuring indigenous solutions and forward-thinking projects undertaken by the units, demonstrating the organisation’s commitment to self-reliance and efficiency.
Interacting with officers and troops, Lt Gen Lakhera commended them for maintaining exemplary standards of professionalism, discipline, and dedication in the discharge of their duties. He emphasized that the Assam Rifles’ contribution to national security and community development remains invaluable.
In recognition of outstanding performance and exemplary service, the DG felicitated selected personnel with DG Assam Rifles Commendation Cards. The awards aim to reinforce a culture of excellence, inspire motivation among troops, and acknowledge individual contributions to the organisation’s success.
The visit concluded with the DG encouraging all ranks to continue innovating and upholding the traditions of courage and commitment that define the Assam Rifles.
