Srinagar, Aug 13: Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat on Thursday chaired a security review meeting at Police Control Room Kashmir to review preparedness for the Independence Day celebrations across the Union Territory.

The meeting was attended by senior officers of the J&K Police, Army and Central Armed Police Forces, including Spl DGP Coordination, ADGP CID, IG BSF, IG CRPF, IGP Kashmir and Jammu, IGP Security, IGP Railways and IGP Traffic, besides range DIGs, district SSPs and other senior officers.
During the meeting, Prabhat reviewed the overall operational preparedness and stressed heightened alertness, intelligence-based operations and prompt response to any emerging security challenge.
He directed officers to ensure effective deployment of manpower, enhanced area domination and close coordination among security and law-enforcement agencies to strengthen the security grid.
The DGP also reviewed security arrangements at major venues, particularly the Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar, where the main Independence Day function will be held.
He emphasised effective traffic regulation and parking management around the venue and directed officers to ensure seamless coordination so that people attending the celebrations face minimal inconvenience and have adequate access to facilities.
The detailed discussions were held on deployment of personnel, intelligence inputs, traffic management and security arrangements at venues across J&K.
The DGP directed officers to intensify night patrolling and naka checking, particularly at vulnerable locations and along inter-district borders, and stressed close surveillance and effective area domination to prevent any untoward incident.
He also reviewed access control, anti-sabotage measures, frisking, route security, deployment and surveillance arrangements at various venues.
The DGP directed all security and law-enforcement agencies to maintain close coordination and ensure strict adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
The meeting concluded with a resolve to ensure foolproof security, effective inter-agency coordination and the smooth and peaceful conduct of Independence Day celebrations across Jammu and Kashmir.
