
Sheralipur, Mar 15: Brigadier Nishant Chandel, DIG Assam Rifles, visited the BSF Border Outpost (BOP) at Sheralipur on 14 March 2026 as part of his inspection of forward areas in Hailakandi and Sribhumi.
During the visit, the DIG reviewed operational readiness and interacted with BSF personnel to assess security measures along the border. He emphasized the importance of vigilance, coordination, and morale in ensuring effective border management.
Brigadier Chandel also held detailed discussions with Shri Abhishek Jain, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Hailakandi, Shri Amitava Sinha, SSP Hailakandi, and Ms. Leena Doley, SSP Sribhumi. The talks focused on the region’s demography, challenging terrain, prevailing security concerns, and evolving local dynamics.
Officials highlighted the need for close coordination between Assam Rifles, BSF, and civil authorities to maintain peace, facilitate development, and address security challenges effectively. The DIG appreciated the efforts of all agencies in strengthening stability while promoting growth in border areas.
