Mahmood Ahmad Shah (Director Industries & Commerce) Flagged off the J&K UT Carrom Team with other guests Zeeshan Khan (Asst. Director J&K Tourism), Shafakat Shafi (Manger, SKISC), Rauf Tramboo (Former Member J&K Sports Council), Sameer Ahmed (Vice President), Adil Rashid Shah (General Secretary), Adfar Jan (Joint Secretary), Sheikh Saqib (Treasurer) & other members of the association were also present. The team will represent J&K UT at 49th Senior National Carrom Championship which is scheduled to be held at Dadar Mumbai, Mahrashtra from March 30th to 3rd April 2022. The team were flagged off from TRC, Srinagar, the Championship is hosted by Maharashtra Carrom Association & Mumbai District Carrom Association, Organised by All India Carrom Federation.
Jammu and Kashmir Carrom Association selected 12 members team include Furqan Nazir, Hilal Bashir, Waseem Yousuf Shah, Danish Bashir, Waseem Bashir and Mumin Fayaz Khanday in men team and Mehak Nabi, Sabira Feroz, Shazia Noor, Mehak Ashiq, Riddha Maddni & Asra Shafi in Women team for the participation in the said national, Shakir Shah & Shabnum Ara will accompany the team as Manager Men & Women team respectively, Arif Sultan Secretary of the J&K Carrom Association will also accompany the team.
While Flag Off Mahmood Ahmad Shah, Zeeshan Khan, Rauf Tramboo interacted with the players encouraged them to work hard in Studies as well as in sports to get laurels for the J&K UT and the wished them good luck for the Championship.
The players were selected by selection committee of the J&K Sports Council headed by Mrs Nusrat Gazala (Sports Officer (C), Mr Shafakat Shafi ( Manager SKISC) with the members of the J&K Carrom Association headed by Adil Rashid Shah General Secretary, Arif Sultan & Sheikh Saqib were also part of screening committee of the J&K Carrom Association. The 15 members team is Sponsored by the J&K Carrom Association & the Players themselves.
