
As part of the extended observance of International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Srinagar, organized a series of impactful awareness programmes to highlight the dangers of substance abuse and promote community-led prevention.
A key event was held at HMT Road, Shalteng in collaboration with the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Srinagar, and PRAYAS Juvenile Aid Centre Society (NGO), chaired by Tasleem Arief, Principal District and Sessions Judge, and monitored by Sajad Ur Rehman, Sub-Judge/Secretary, DLSA.
Khair Ul Nisa, Chairperson of CWC Srinagar, stressed the heightened vulnerability of children to drug environments, urging collective action from families, schools, legal bodies, and NGOs.
Panel Lawyer Advocate Suhaila outlined legal protections under the NDPS Act and Juvenile Justice Act, advocating for greater legal literacy at the grassroots level.
The programme concluded with an anti-drug pledge by children, volunteers, and stakeholders, symbolizing a united stand against substance abuse and a commitment to a safer, healthier society.
