
Kulgam, June 29: The evaluation team from the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) visited Kulgam for on-ground verification and examination of documents under the One District One Product (ODOP) under Garlic.
The team was lead by Pankaj Kumar, Deputy Secretary, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT); Sonia Duhan, Senior Vice president, ODOP, DPPIIT, and Neelam Garery, Assistant manager, ODOP, DPIIT.
On the occasion, Chief Agriculture Officer Kulgam, Shahnawaz Ahmed Shah and other officers accompanied the team.
Team visited Fruit and vegetable mandi Jablipora and interacted with the Vendors and progressive Farmers there and had a detailed discussion regarding the marketing of the produce.
Besides the team also visited several villages viz. Frisal, Budroo HS BUGH Yaripora and Tarigam where they interacted with the progressive farmers and the dealers and also deliberated on the various aspects to enhance the production and marketing facilities of Garlic.
Team visit was conducted as part of the evaluation process after the Jammu & Kashmir UT submitted its application for the National ODOP Awards 2024–25 under Garlic production for District Kulgam.
The team assessed various aspects related to ODOP implementation, including progress, documentation, and ground-level impact. Jammu & Kashmir has been among the top-performing Union Territories in its respective category for the last two years for its work under the ODOP initiative.
