The government has appointed Dr Mohammad Ashraf Ganie as new director of SKIMS Soura.

“Sanction is hereby accorded to the appointment of Dr Mohammad Ashraf Ganie, Professor, Department of Endocrinology, SKSIMS, Soura as Director, Sheri Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences, Soura, with immediate effect,” reads a government order issued by Secretary to Government Dr Syed Abid Rashid Shah.

The vacancy of the Director SKIMS was notified in February, weeks before the superannuation of the incumbent Director Dr Parvaiz Ahmad Koul who retired on March 7 upon reaching 65 years of age.

On the 8th of March, the Government assigned the charge of Director SKIMS to Secretary Health and Medical Education, Dr Abid Rashid Shah.

A high level search committee headed by Chief Secretary Atul Dulloo conducted the interview of 30 applicants at Jammu on March 16. Secretary Health and Medical Education J&K Government, Director AIIMS New Delhi, Director PGIMER Chandigarh and a Professor of AIIMS New Delhi were other members of the search committee.

However, the selection process could not be completed due to the enforcement of the MCC for the Lok Sabha elections.
