Dr. Renzushah reaffirms legacy of "Hoo" at Hazrat Gani’s Urs in Srinagar

In a deeply spiritual gathering at the renowned Hanafi shrine of Hazrat Sheikh Abdul Gani Sahib in Malkhah, Srinagar, Dr. Khwaja Farooq Renzushah, chairman of Jamaat Aitqaad Hanafiyia International and Tehreek-e-Dawat e-Tasawwuf, delivered a stirring address to a packed assembly of devotees. The event celebrated the doctrine of “Hoo”, a mystical concept central to Kashmiri Sufi traditions, and its profound legacy nurtured by saints including Baha-ud-Dīn Datta Ganj Bakhsh, Hazrat Zinda Shah, and the pioneering Sheikh Abdul Gani under the spiritual shadow of Hazrat Makhdoom Hamza Raina.
The ceremony was organized by the Sufi Cultural Society of Shahar-e-Khas, led by Mir Zahoor ibn-e-Arif Billah and others, along with the Hazrat Sheikh Abdul Gani Memorial Committee. Devotees, mujawirs, and Sufi scholars gathered to pay homage, accompanied by traditional Samaa Saadaat performances marking the saint’s Urs.
Addressing the devotees, Dr. Renzushah praised the widespread attendance and reaffirmed the centrality of Tasawwuf and the "Hoo" doctrine in Kashmiri spiritual life. He also extended his tribute to Hazrat Rajab Sahib at a concurrent event in Tangmarg, linking both celebrations in shared reverence.
Dr. Renzushah expressed concern over deliberate efforts to erase Hanafi spiritual landmarks from Kashmir over the past centuries. He characterized controversial initiatives—such as the renaming of Lokasi Lal Chowk—as attempts to marginalize the region’s Islamic spiritual heritage. He also reminisced about his own role as Deputy Commissioner Budgam in 2007, when he supervised the reconstruction of the Khankah Panah shrine at Charar Sharief after a 12-year gap following its burning in 1995.
He hailed Kashmir as a historical center of interfaith unity, where shrines of Kashmiri Muslims, Hindus, and Buddhists have long coexisted in harmony—embodied in sites like Hari Parbat and Koh-e-Maran. He urged the younger generation to honor the region’s Tasawwuf traditions, correctly pronounce sacred names, and preserve spiritual abodes fraught with centuries of legacy.
The gathering included important Sufi figures such as Jenab Ghulam Nabi Gazi, Manzoor Damdaar, Mohammad Yousuf Qadri, Farooq Doon ibn-e-Arif Billah, Basharat Sahib, among others. Their attendance underscored the communal resolve to uphold the rich spiritual traditions of Shahar-e-Khas and Kashmiri Tasawwuf.
