Dr. Nowhera Shaik, founder and national president of the All India Mahila Empowerment Party, has outlined an ambitious roadmap for the transformation of Hyderabad. While addressing press meet at the Somajiguda Press Club in Hyderabad on today, Dr. Shaik detailed her comprehensive plans to address the city's multifaceted challenges, focusing on economic development, healthcare accessibility, cultural preservation, women's empowerment, and environmental sustainability.
Dr. Nowhera Shaik pointed out that residents of Hyderabad are facing numerous challenges, ranging from inadequate healthcare facilities to unemployment and infrastructure deficiencies. It is these very experiences that propelled her into politics. She said, "Hyderabad holds immense potential as a hub of innovation, culture, and diversity. However, to realize this potential fully, it requires visionary leadership and effective governance. I felt compelled to step into the realm of politics to advocate for the interests and aspirations of Hyderabad's residents, particularly those from marginalized communities who often go unheard."
She delineated her primary areas of focus for Hyderabad: "My primary focus for Hyderabad revolves around addressing the pressing issues and challenges faced by its residents. One of my primary focuses for Hyderabad is to prioritize economic development and job creation."
Dr. Shaik emphasized the importance of improving infrastructure and basic amenities in the city, stating, "Hyderabad has witnessed rapid urbanization in recent years, leading to increased pressure on infrastructure such as roads, public transportation, water supply, and sanitation facilities. To address these challenges, I will work towards upgrading and expanding infrastructure to meet the growing needs of the city's residents."
Dr. Nowhera Shaik remarked, "People of Hyderabad have confided in me, expressed their grievances about the challenges they face daily. Many have shared their disappointment, stating that Hyderabad has suffered under the leadership of Asaduddin Owaisi. They feel that the city has not progressed as it should have. It's time for a change, and that's why they are looking for new leadership and fresh perspectives."
Throughout her interactions with the people of Hyderabad, Dr. Shaik has witnessed firsthand the impact of these challenges on individuals and communities. She has listened to their stories of struggle and hardship, empathizing with their desire for positive change and a brighter future for their city.
"Ensuring the safety and well-being of Hyderabad's residents, particularly women and vulnerable populations, is a paramount concern. I will prioritize initiatives aimed at enhancing public safety, strengthening law enforcement, and creating safe and inclusive public spaces where everyone feels secure and empowered," she said.
Dr. Shaik pledges to preserve and promote the city’s historical landmarks and traditions. Initiatives such as cultural festivals and museum renovations are part of her agenda to keep the city’s heritage alive for future generations.
She also elaborated on her plans to address the housing crisis, stating, "We believe that access to safe and affordable housing is a fundamental right and essential for the well-being of every individual."
She pledges to address the housing issues faced by journalists in Hyderabad and provide financial support to the families of journalists who have passed away. She also promises to set up "Old Age Homes" to help and support the elderly people in Hyderabad.
Dr. Shaik prioritizes the well-being of children in Hyderabad by focusing on nutritional programs and sanitation improvement.
She outlined her strategies for promoting sustainability and addressing environmental challenges such as air and water pollution, waste management, and urban greenery: "Environmental conservation is indeed a pressing issue in urban areas like Hyderabad, and promoting sustainability is a key priority for me."
Dr. Nowhera Shaik promises to gift electric scooters to female students in Hyderabad who are pursuing higher education.
However, Dr. Nowhera Shaik confirmed to continue to engage with the people of Hyderabad even after the elections and assured to be accessible and responsive to their needs, concerns, and aspirations.
