Drug Addiction which is nowadays the major problem of our society in which the whole valley is involved in today's world. It is rightly said that if a country has to end its existence, it starts from the spread of drugs. The youth of the same nation are made blind in such a way that they are not able to differentiate between the right and the wrong and they don't think of the family behind them. And the result is that they breathe their last. But the point is that what compels the youth of Kashmir to end up their life and ruin their future in this way.
Kashmir which was known for its beauty. Kashmir which was known for its scenery.
Kashmir which was known as "Heaven on Earth. Now the same Kashmir is known as "Heaven for drug peddlers". What is this? Is this a resolution? Or it can be considered as a gift from government? Why government is silent. Why government is waiting for more worst conditions ?Why its not taking any step regarding this?
Related to this Dr .Mushtaq Margoob mentions in his book namely (Menace of drug abuse) published in 2008. In which he mentions that in this year (2008) valley was having 2lakh 11,000 drug addicts. According to scientists, if the drug addiction will increase in the same pace it will cause a great impact on future generations. In this research, they recorded the data of the patients in Govt. Psychiatric hospital sgr and came to know that 9726 patients were admitted among which (1.95%) were drug addicts. There are several reasons for the drug Addiction among which Bad company is the one.
Bad company is considered a main reason of drugs in valley. On this Mola Ali (R.A) said : Tell me who your friends and I will tell you who you are. Because it is rightly said that a person is known by the company he belongs to .For this unemployment among the youth of the Valley is also a great cause because when a person is busy in some work he /she interacts with the other people and negative thoughts automatically come out of his/her brain. There can be a number of reasons for the increase of drug Addiction in Kashmir. Like Unemployment, bad company and the first dose on the name of joke. But after all this have we ever thought that may be this ( plant from which it is extracted ) may be not made for this purpose. As Allah(SWT) made everything for a positive purpose in the same way ,this cannibis mostly known as charas is also extracted from 2 kinds of plants. Cannibes sativa and Cannibes indicia .These plants grow near the water bodies. In Cannabis Sativa ,Allah (SWT) has sent both the types of things life giving and life destructing .But people have became greedy nowadays and are defaming this plant. Just for the sake of some money ..And here these druggists consider this as happiness but they are unaware that this happiness is temporary .In the beginning people start taking it in less quantity but when they become addict of it then they start to take it in larger quantities...There are different types of drugs, which are most commonly used nowadays. now let me make u aware about some drugs and their actions and affects.

Alcohol

This alcohol acts as an depressant ,sedative and as well as an anesthetic. Some of its effects are damage of liver ,brain as well as heart .It also causes cancer of mouth, esophagus ,liver throat and breast.

Tobacco

It acts as a depressant. It usually effects lungs,oral and causes the inflammation of mucosa of throat and bronchi and increases the secretion of gastric juices.

Cocaine

It is the most powerful addictive stimulant drug obtained from the leaves of the plant (Erthroxylem coca).It acts as the best pain killer. It usually narrows blood vessels and enlargement of pupils ,increases blood pressure ,body temperature and heart rate .It also causes headache, abdominal pain ,nausea, euphoria, insomnia, restlessness and many more.

Opioids

Most used drug and herion which is extracted from the latex of poppy plant (Papavar Sominiferum) which is mostly cultivated in south Kashmir .Our own mothers and sisters after having the poppy seeds, then just sell the latex for some money but they never think that may be our own children be involved in the same and related to it Allah (SWT) says in Quran that the one who sells the latex of poppy and the one who gets ruined by this latex,the one who sells will be blamed in the day of judgment for the same.
Now at last ,I want to humbly request the youth to remain away from these things. And also want to convey this message to government that we lost one generation by bullets ,now we don't want to lose another by drugs.
