
Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir, Surinder Choudhary, chaired a high-level review meeting at the J&K Resident Commission, New Delhi, to assess the performance and ongoing development works of the Public Works Department (PWD).
The meeting was attended by the Additional Resident Commissioner, Chief Pay & Accounts Officer, Executive Engineer (PWD), Manager 5-PRR, Manager CPGH, and other officials.
Officials briefed the Deputy CM on the physical and financial progress of various projects. It was informed that the upgradation of JK House, Chanakyapuri, including a new reception area, sitting lounge, and upgraded furnishings, has been completed. Additionally, the C Block top floor will be renovated into VIP rooms at an estimated cost of ₹127 lakh.
The Deputy CM was also apprised that the renovation of the J&K Guest House in Amritsar—including boundary wall construction, new signage, ramp, and painting—was completed in the last fiscal year. Upgradation of four suites, kitchen, staff quarters, and landscaping will be undertaken this year.
Further updates included the completed renovation of the HCM and LG residences at 5-PR Road, including painting, furniture upgrades, and improved parking. Construction of boundary walls at the newly acquired JK Bhawan lands in Dwarka and Mumbai has also been finished.
Commending the department, the Deputy CM appreciated the dedicated efforts and emphasized timely execution of all ongoing works. He urged officials to strictly adhere to construction norms and quality standards, calling for regular inspections to maintain excellence in public infrastructure.
He also directed the enhancement of hospitality services at all J&K Guest Houses, reflecting the region’s rich tradition of warmth and service.
Concluding the meeting, the Deputy Chief Minister urged officials to serve as ambassadors of Jammu & Kashmir, promoting it as a safe, vibrant, and welcoming destination. He encouraged the team to actively invite domestic and international tourists to experience the natural beauty, culture, and hospitality of the Union Territory.
