
Jorhat, Feb 20: The General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 41 Sub Area flagged off “The Eastern Edge Expedition,” a high-profile bike rally from Jorhat to Shillong, on February 19, 2026. The event was conducted under Operation Sadbhavana by the Assam Rifles in partnership with Hero MotoCorp, highlighting civil–military collaboration and regional outreach.
The expedition features 24 bikers, evenly split between Assam Rifles personnel and Hero MotoCorp riders. Participants will traverse challenging terrains across Assam and Meghalaya, showcasing resilience, teamwork, and adventure spirit. The rally aims to foster youth engagement, promote adventure tourism, strengthen regional connectivity, and reinforce the ideals of national integration in the Northeast.
GOC, 41 Sub Area, during the flag-off ceremony, emphasized that the rally is more than a sporting and adventure event. “This expedition symbolizes the strong synergy between the armed forces and civilians, highlighting our shared commitment to development, unity, and community engagement in the region,” he said.
Organizers noted that the expedition also serves as a platform to promote environmental awareness, safe riding practices, and local cultural appreciation. Riders will engage with local communities along the route, further reinforcing ties between the armed forces and the people of Northeast India.
The rally is expected to conclude in Shillong after covering hundreds of kilometers of challenging roads, leaving a lasting impact on adventure sports promotion, youth inspiration, and regional integration in the northeastern states.
