Education Minister reviews B.Ed institutions

Srinagar, June 12: Minister for School Education, Sakeena Itoo, today chaired a meeting with representatives of the Private B.Ed College Association of Jammu and Kashmir at the Civil Secretariat, Srinagar, to discuss issues concerning the Teacher Education Institutions across Jammu and Kashmir.

The meeting was attended by Commissioner Secretary, School Education Department, Special Secretary, Higher Education Department and other senior officers.
The Minister emphasized the need for strengthening the infrastructure and creating quality, student-centric facilities in private colleges to ensure the delivery of high-standard teacher education. She directed the managements of private B.Ed colleges to submit undertakings for addressing all identified shortcomings, including land-related deficiencies, within a period of two years. She made it clear that no further relaxation would be granted beyond the stipulated timeframe.
The Minister stressed that quality infrastructure, adequate facilities and compliance with the prescribed norms are essential for nurturing competent future educators and enhancing the overall standards of teacher education in Jammu and Kashmir.
During the meeting, the representatives of the Private B.Ed College Association expressed gratitude to the Minister for taking up the issue of admissions in private colleges with the Union Government and relevant authorities to facilitate its early resolution.
The Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to building a vibrant and robust education system through the collective contribution of both government and private educational institutions. She said that the administration remains focused on ensuring quality education and improving academic outcomes for students in J&K.
The meeting also discussed several other issues and concerns raised by the representatives.
The Minister assured them that all their genuine demands and grievances would be examined sympathetically and addressed on priority.
