
An encounter broke out between terrorists and security forces in a Chatroo forest area in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday.
"Op CHAS. Based on specific #intelligence a joint search operation was underway in Kanzal Mandu, #Kishtwar. Contact has been established with the #terrorists and #operations are in progress," the 16 Corps posted on X.
A security official said a joint operation was launched by police, army and CRPF in the Kanzal Mandu area of Chatroo forest area in Kishtwar after receiving inputs about the presence of terrorists there.
“The security forces have got inputs that at least two to three terrorists belonging to Jaish-e-Mohammad are hiding in the area and have been trapped in the cordon,” he said.
Reinforcements have been rushed to the area to maintain a tight cordon and prevent the terrorists from escaping from the area.
