Entrepreneurship awareness programme held at GCET, Jammu

Government College for Engineering and Technology Jammu and Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises Development Facilitation Office (MSME) GoI on Tuesday organised “Entreprenureship Awareness Programme” on “Self-Employment Opportunities” to celebrate Aazadi ka Amrit Mahautsav.
The event was held under the patronage of Dr. Sameru Sharma, Principal, GCET Jammu. A team of experts from different fields and experiences comprising Dr. Rashi Taggar, Faculty SMVDU, Katra; Davendra Khokhar, Industrial consultant; Arshad Numani, Functional Manager, I&C Jammu; D.K Tyagi, Assistant Director, MSME-DI Jammu; Komal, Officer, DIC, Jammu and Rajan Verma, Manager, J&K, Grameen Bank were the key resource persons of the event.
At the outset, the resource persons interacted with Dr. Sameru Sharma, Principal, GCET, Jammu and discussed various ways in which students can avail the opportunities provided by Government and banks to become successful entrepreneurs.
Prof. Bhawna Sharma, (Chairperson, Start Up Cell GCET) welcomed the resource persons and all the participants.
The resource person Dr. Rashi Taggar focused upon the entrepreneurial requirements, the different barriers that stop the way of an entrepreneur and various aspects that shape the future of the start-ups. She further emphasised on the importance of entrepreneurship in the country's economy and the avenues that are open for the young entrepreneurs.
Davendra Khokhar, gave the students tips on building attitude towards way of life and discussed about 4Ms (men; machine; method; material) and the importance of sustainability during the entrepreneurial journey. He further advised the students to build innovative ideas for their everyday problems so that they can develop a different mindset.
Arshad Numani, motivated participants towards entering into the world of Entrepreneurship and advised them to carry confidence in life as it reveals a lot about their personalities.
D.K Tyagi discussed the importance of entrepreneurship in driving the Indian success story. He also guided the participants about various initiatives taken by the Government of India to promote entrepreneurship within the country.
Rajan Verma threw light on numerous bank funding schemes for starting a new business venture according to the educational qualification, opportunities for women and other special privileged people.
Overall, the interactive session provided constructive direction and reoriented the young minds to strengthen their entrepreneurial motives.
At the end, Prof. Sameru Sharma, Principal GCET, Jammu emphasized the need to recognize the gaps in the market and had a word of advice that the budding entrepreneurs should avoid being a straggler to successfully capture the market. She lauded the guidance provided by the speakers and specially the efforts of Venu Jee Kaul, MSME, Jammu and the organizing team of GCET, Jammu comprising of Prof. Bhawna Sharma, ,Dr. Ajay Abrol, Er. Sanjeev Gupta, Dr. Vibha Mahajan and student coordinating team including Sunidhi Sharma, Jaanvi Sharma, Mandeep Singh, Bhawya, Gazanfar Ali and Mohd. Sami.
