In a testament to his exceptional talent and creativity, Joel Michael, an alumnus of School of Architecture and Landscape Design, SMVDU, Katra, has been awarded the prestigious Ramnath Goenka Awards for Excellence in Journalism. The award recognizes outstanding contributions to the field of journalism that have made a significant impact on society.Award was given by President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday, where she spoke about the critical role of free and fair journalism in sustaining democracy while addressing the Awards ceremony. Ar. Joel Michael won award in Environment, Science & Technology category for his story on deadly industrial pollution in Punjab — how 11 persons dropped dead in 15 minutes due to a gas leak from open sewers in Ludhiana’s Giaspura in April 2023. Prof. Pragati Kumar, Vice Chancellor of SMVDU, and Ar. Abhiney Gupta, Head of the School of Architecture & Landscape Design, along with other faculty members, congratulated Ar. Joel Michael on his achievement.
