Feathers of Rejection, Wings of Strength !

May 24, 2025 | Syed Suhail Geelani

In a small town, there lived a hardworking crow named Ravi, who always strived to be the best he could be in the avian community. His dream was to become a respected bird, believing that wisdom and perseverance were the keys to success. However, as the harsh winter approached, Ravi’s personal troubles began to interfere with his focus. Though he kept his struggles hidden, his performance began to falter, and soon, it didn’t go unnoticed by Mr. Deshmukh, the stern eagle , head of the flock. Rather than offering support, the eagle began to single out Ravi daily, criticizing him harshly in front of everyone.
Deshmukh's words grew more critical, targeting Ravi's personal struggles as well as his duties. Instead of guiding him, the eagle pushed Ravi further into isolation, making his confidence crack under the pressure. Ravi began to feel that the eagle was deliberately trying to separate him from the community. The other birds, influenced by the eagle’s harsh words, started distancing themselves from him, leaving him to feel like an outsider.
One day, during the migration preparations, Deshmukh delivered the final blow: “You’re not ready, Ravi. You won’t be joining the migration. We can’t have you dragging the rest of us down." Ravi was devastated. The dream of flying alongside the flock was slipping away, and the exclusion stung deeply. He left the community with a heavy heart, crushed under the weight of rejection and humiliation.
As the days passed, Ravi reflected on the situation. He realized that while the eagle's words were cruel, they revealed a deeper truth: sometimes others fail to understand the full picture and instead tear you down. Determined not to let the harsh words define him, Ravi promised to rise above it, not for those who criticized him, but for himself.
Slowly, Ravi rebuilt his strength, finding comfort in a few supportive birds who understood him. Over time, his wings grew stronger, and he learned to navigate life’s storms on his own. Through this journey, Ravi discovered that the real challenge wasn’t just about flying with the flock; it was about enduring judgment, finding inner strength, and moving forward despite setbacks.
In the end, Ravi learned that the cruelty of others could fuel his determination to prove his worth—not to those who sought to bring him down, but to his own spirit. And that, in itself, was the most powerful flight of all.
Even when the harsh winds of judgment try to clip your wings, it is the strength within that will lift you higher.
