Gurezi boy wins gold in Sqay National championship
Mushtaq Ahmad Zargar brought Gold Medal for Jammu and Kashmir in the first National Master Weightlifting Championship 2021.
Mushtaq secured gold medal in the 81kg weight category.
The tournament is hosted by Ludhiana Masters Weightlifting Association under the aegis of Indian Masters Weightlifting Federation.
The matches were held at weightlifting center Guru Nanak Stadium Ludhiana (Punjab) form 25th - 26th of Dec 2021.
About 140 participants for different states and union territories participated in the two days national masters Weightlifting Championship.
J&K Masters Weightlifting Association has congratulated Mushtaq Ahmad Zargar.
Meanwhile, another young Sqay player from Bandipora Numan Jameel from Gurez won a gold medal at the National Games competition in Goa this week.
His coach while talking to Kashmir Convener said that Numan won the gold medal in Under-14 category of Sqay Martial Art in National School games conducted by School Games Federation of India at Goa.
Numan (12) hails from Achoora Gurez Pampore and is class 8th student. He was initially selected by Department of Youth Services and Sports at district level then division level and finally bagged a Gold Medal at the national level.
Numan said it is proud moment for him and is hopefully to represent the country at international stage.
"This is an incredible moment for me and my family and I hope I will achieve more feats in the future" says Numan.
The young sqay champion belongs to a poor family. However his father Jameel Ahmad is hopeful that his son will one day would become an international player.
"Being a father is a cheerful experience in my life as my son has achieved the success at national level," he said.
He thanked DC Bandipora Dr Owais for lending every possible support to him from time to time that helped him to make it possible.
His friends said Numans' potential must be utilized through proper coaching and must also get support from the District Administration Bandipora.
In the event that was organized by School Games Federation of India (SGFI) in Goa from December 27th to 28th where bagged Gold medal.
