Four insurgents held, 21 weapons recovered in Manipur

Imphal, Aug 25: Intelligence-based joint operations conducted by formations under the Spear Corps, in coordination with the Manipur Police and Central Security Forces, led to the apprehension of four insurgent cadres and the recovery of 21 weapons, ammunition and other war-like stores across four districts of Manipur.

The operations were carried out between August 16 and 23 in Tengnoupal, Churachandpur, Thoubal and Kakching districts, based on specific intelligence inputs regarding the presence and activities of insurgent elements.
According to officials, four insurgent cadres were apprehended during the coordinated operations. Among those detained was a cadre wanted by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), adding significance to the security operations.
Security forces also recovered a cache of 21 weapons, ammunition and other war-like stores during the operations. The recoveries are expected to strengthen ongoing efforts to prevent the movement and use of illegal arms by insurgent groups in the region.
The operations involved close coordination between the Army’s formations under Spear Corps, Manipur Police and Central Security Forces. The coordinated approach enabled security agencies to act on intelligence inputs and conduct searches and apprehension operations across multiple districts.
The latest operations underline the continued focus of security agencies on identifying insurgent networks, recovering illegally held weapons and disrupting activities that could threaten peace and stability in Manipur.
Officials said such intelligence-based and coordinated operations would continue as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security and maintain peace across the state.
