
Srinagar, July 13 : In a significant success for the technology-enabled security grid deployed for the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, police in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir detained an Over Ground Worker (OGW) at the X-Ray Point Nunwan, after the Facial Recognition System (FRS) generated a timely alert.
Police said the individual was identified as Faisal Muzaffar a resident of Babhara, Pulwama.
Acting swiftly on the FRS alert, police personnel intercepted and apprehended the individual for verification and further legal proceedings, they said.
Four OGWs were arrested in Anantnag in two separate operations over the last one week with the help of the FRS.
The successful detection highlights the effectiveness of advanced surveillance systems deployed by Anantnag Police to strengthen security and ensure a safe and peaceful Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, Police said.
Meanwhile, as part of its sustained efforts to maintain peace, strengthen the security grid, and prevent activities inimical to public order, police in Baramulla district conducted searches at the residential houses of two Jammu & Kashmir Natives living in Pakistan (PoK), namely Maqsood Ahmad Sheikh and Manzoor Ahmad Sheikh both residents of Lachipora, Bijhama.
The searches were conducted in accordance with the law, and all identified locations were thoroughly searched as part of the operation.
