Jammu and Kashmir administration Saturday said that administration is fully equipped technologically as far as smooth conduct of G20 Summit in Srinagar is concerned.
“All the present day technology has been put to best use for the smooth conduct of the G20 Summit in Srinagar,” an official told Brighter Kashmir.
Giving details of the ‘technical support’, the official said that over 400 Closed-circuit televisions (CCTVs) are currently operational in Srinagar city alone.
“Drones will be one of the key technical supports for the administration which will help us in keeping miscreants at bay. CCTVs along with other technical support we will be monitoring the Summit with a close eye,” the official said.
He said that drones are the best bet for any force around the world. “We have recently seen how drones have played a vital role around the world during the various conflicts. Drones are the latest weaponry in our armoury,” the official said.
He said a separate Jammu and Kashmir Police unit has been raised only for the smooth conduct of the G20 Summit.
“Around 600 personnel separate unit of Jammu and Kashmir Police have been formed. The key task of this unit is to keep the venue safe and accompany the foreign dignitaries during their entire stay in Kashmir valley,” the official said.
The police same unit will also be responsible for security of the dignitaries and will be accompanying them wherever they would visit.
Pertinently, the three-day second Tourism Working Group Global (TWG) meeting, under India’s G20 presidency, is scheduled to begin in Srinagar from May 22 to 24.
Meanwhile, the areas in and around the Srinagar district have also been sanitized and the security has been beefed up as well.
The security officials said that they are aware about the miscreants trying to vitiate the peace in Jammu and Kashmir.
Sources said that the government of India is not taking any security risks for the G20 Summit and have been on tenterhooks for the smooth conduct of the Summit.
“We will not let anyone derail this peace. We are making sure that no untoward incident takes place in the valley till G20 is over,” a security official, who wished anonymity, told Brighter Kashmir.
It is also worth mentioning that the Srinagar city has been dotted with the security personnel camps and tight vigil has been put in place in length and breadth of the Srinagar city.
“The guests will arrive on May 22. They will be escorted in high security to their destinations. There are multiple security systems put in place for their safety and no one will be able to create chaos or derail the Summit,” an official said.
The government of India has massively invested in the first ever G20 Summit which will be held in Jammu and Kashmir.
Many parts of the prized Kashmir valley have been given a massive facelift while work on other developmental projects have been going on the full scale to give a new look to the valley.
