The Women Development Cell of Government Degree College (GDC) Sumbal in collaboration Electoral Literacy Club and NSS wing today organized “Mehendi Art Competition” under SVEEP campaign to promote voter awareness.
The theme of the event was Importance of Voting in Democracy.
The programme conducted under the patronage of Principal Prof. (Dr) Shabeena Iqbal Shawl was intended to build a truly participatory democracy by encouraging all eligible citizens to vote and make an informed decision during the forthcoming elections.
At the outset of the competition Dr. Mehraj uddin (HOD Political Science) highlighted the importance of voting in democracy.
He emphasized the significance of this civic duty as an opportunity to actively shape the destiny of the nation.
On the occasion, Dr. Nuzhat Gull (HOD Chemistry) highlighted the importance of voting not just as a right but as a duty.
The competition began with the orientation session by Prof. Manzoor Ahmed Parey wherein he instructed students about rules and regulations to be followed during the competition.
A number of enthusiastic female students participated, showcasing their artistic prowess by adorning their hands with intricate designs and empowering messages.
