Jammu, Feb 25: GGM Science College once again showcased its sporting excellence by emerging as the Overall Champion in the Power-Lifting (Men & Women) Inter-Collegiate Competition for the Session 2025–2026. The prestigious event was held at A-3 Gym, Opposite KIA Motors Ltd., Channi Rama, Jammu, where the college athletes delivered an outstanding performance.

In the Men’s Section, the college secured the Overall Championship with 24 points, clinching 03 Gold and 03 Silver medals. Mr. Honey Sharma won Gold in the 74 kg category, Mr. Vaibhav Thakur secured Gold in 93 kg and also added a Silver in the same category, Mr. Kanav Dogra bagged Gold in 120 kg, Mr. Yash Dev Singh claimed Silver in 66 kg, and Mr. Mohd. Irfan earned Silver in the 93 kg category. Adding to the glory, in the Women’s Section, Ms. Nabiha Fatima won a Gold medal in the 57 kg weight category, further strengthening the college’s dominance in the championship.
Principal Dr. (Prof.) Romesh Kumar Gupta congratulated the players and applauded the relentless efforts of Dr. Devinder Kumar Sharma I/C Director, Physical Education & Sports, Prof. Vishal Sharma (Sports Incharge, Power-Lifting Men Team), and Dr. Bilal Ahmed Malla (P.T.I.). He stated that power-lifting is not merely a sport but a discipline that builds character, resilience, and mental fortitude. “Every lift reflects months of dedication, perseverance, and unwavering focus. Our students have demonstrated that consistent hard work and self-belief are the true pillars of success,” he remarked.
Dr. Devinder Kumar Sharma also congratulated the athletes, emphasizing that power-lifting builds not only physical strength but immense confidence and self-trust.
