
The 5th Edition of the Kashmir World Film Festival (KWFF) is set to be held at Tagore Hall, Srinagar, from November 1 to 7, 2025, bringing together filmmakers, artists, and cinema enthusiasts from India and across the world. The inauguration ceremony will take place on Saturday, November 1, at 3:00 PM.
For the current edition, the festival has received 123 entries, of which 60 films have been shortlisted, 55 in the competition section and 5 in the non-competition section. This year’s international submissions include films from Bangladesh, Egypt, Germany, Iran, Nepal, Palestine, Sri Lanka, and the UAE. Indian films have been received in Kashmiri, Dogri, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Ladakhi, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Pahadi, Punjabi, Tamil, Tibetan, and Urdu languages.
The 5th edition of KWFF will also witness the presence of leading Bollywood personalities including Raza Murad, Rajit Kapur, Jayati Bhatia, Shishir Sharma, Madhur Bhandarkar, Lalit Parimoo, and Sunit Tandon. Confirmations from Nana Patekar, Adil Hussain, Manoj Joshi, Vijay Raaz, Bhagyashree, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, and others are awaited. From the local film fraternity, several noted Kashmiri and Jammu-based artists such as Tariq Javaid, Waheed Jeelani, Mir Sarwar, Ameen Bhat, Dr. Asrar Sultanpuri, and Gulzar Ganai will also attend.
As part of the festival, interactive sessions, filmmaking workshops, and masterclasses by eminent directors and actors from Bollywood will be organized to help aspiring filmmakers and students understand the finer aspects of regional and international cinema.
The Executive Board for this year’s edition includes Humayun Qaisar, Dr. Shahid Rasool, Khair-un-Nissa Shah, and Abhijit Patil. The organizers have expressed gratitude to all departments and organizations for their continued support in making the festival a success.
In its past editions, the festival received over 460 films from 15 countries, including the USA, Italy, Iran, Afghanistan, and Turkey, as well as entries from across India in multiple languages. Thirty films have been recognized with awards across diverse categories such as Feature Films, Documentaries, Short Films, Animation, and Student Films.
