Inaugurates school building in Kulgam

Kulgam, May 2: Minister for Health, Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education, Sakeena Itoo, inaugurated a newly constructed primary school building at Zambalnard in the DH Pora area of Kulgam district, reaffirming the government’s focus on strengthening educational infrastructure in rural areas.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said education remains a top priority for the administration, with continued efforts underway to upgrade facilities, improve teaching standards, and enhance learning outcomes across Jammu and Kashmir. She said the new school building would help improve enrolment, retention, and overall learning conditions for students in the area.
Highlighting the importance of primary education, she stressed that strengthening the foundational stage of schooling is essential for building a progressive society. She also interacted with students, teachers, and locals, assuring them that further steps would be taken to improve educational standards and infrastructure.
The Minister said the facility, equipped with modern amenities, would provide a better learning environment for young students and support holistic development.
Later, she laid the foundation stone for the Zumbalnad–Baidjahalan road, saying improved connectivity is vital for access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities. She said the project would help ease transportation challenges and boost local development.
During her visit, Sakeena Itoo also held a Public Darbar at Baidjahalan, where she heard grievances related to education, healthcare, and infrastructure. She directed officials to ensure prompt redressal of genuine issues, reiterating the government’s commitment to responsive and citizen-centric governance.
Director School Education Kashmir, district administration officials, and a large number of locals were present on the occasion.
