
The Jammu and Kashmir government has constituted a Union Territory Level Committee for deliberating upon the modernization plan of the Jammu and Kashmir Police.
The modernization of the Jammu and Kashmir Police will be done aa per the scheme of assistance under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.
On 13th February this year, the government of India under the leadership of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi approved the continuation of the umbrella scheme of Modernisation of Police Forces (MPF).
The approval for the period 2021-22 to 2025-26, moves forward the initiative of the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah to modernise and improve the functioning of Police Forces of States and Union Territories.
The scheme comprises all relevant sub-schemes that contribute to modernization and improvement with a total Central financial outlay of Rs.26,275 crore.
Meanwhile, an order in this regard has been issued by the General Administration Department, Jammu and Kashmir.
“Sanction is hereby accorded to the constitution of the Union Territory Level Empowered Committee, comprising the following, for deliberating upon the Modernization Plan of Jammu and Kashmir Police under the scheme Assistance of State/UTs and approving it for submission to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India”, reads the order.
The committee includes Financial Commissioner (Additional Chief Secretary Home Department) Chairman. Administrative Secretary, Finance Department Member, Director General of Police Jammu and Kashmir Member, Special Director General of Police, Crime Branch, J&K Member, Additional Director General of Police, Headquarters (PHQ) Convener and Administrative Secretary, Planning, Development and Monitoring Department.
