Authorities on Saturday demolished the house of a designated terrorist which was allegedly built on encroached government land in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Officials said the residential house of Ashiq Nengroo, a Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorist, was demolished at Hajan Bala, New Colony area of Rajpora in Pulwama.
Police said he was involved in multiple cases including FIR No 129/2013 U/S 307 RPC, 7/27 Arms Act of PS Pulwama, FIR No 89/2018 u/s 307,120B, 121/122, 123 RPC, 7/25, 26/27 IA Act, 16,18 UA (P) Act of P/S Jajjar Kotli, FIR No 188/2020 u/s 302 IPC, 7/27 IAA, 16, 20 UA (P) Act dated 15/8/2020 registered in PS Pulwama. (In the year 2020, JeM outfit attacked and killed one civilian Azad Ahmad Dar S/o Mohd Abdullah Dar R/o Kangan Pulwama.. The attack was carried out by terrorist Zahid Ahmad Wani, Owais Amin, Yasir parry, @Furkan. During investigation it was established that the attack was carried out at the behest of Ashiq Ahmad Nengroo and he was mastermind behind the attack on the eve of Independence Day.)
In a statement, police said Ashiq Ahmad Nengroo was born at his Hanjan Bala Rajpora village and got his basic education from Abbu Hanifa Public School Rajpora upto 8th standard.
"After that, he got admission in Govt High School Pulwama in 9th class and after passing 12th class, he joined Govt Degree College Pulwama and completed his B.A. Ashiq Ahmad Nengroo did his M.A in Urdu through Distance Mode from MANNU University,” it said.
“Ashiq Ahmad Nengroo got married in 2011 and is having two daughters and one son. After getting married, he shifted from his native village Hanjan to New Colony Rajpora and constructed his own house there. In order to earn livelihood, he choose driving profession,” it said.
“His brother namely Abas Nengroo was an active terrorist of JEM outfit during the year 2011 to 2013 and was later on killed in the year 2013 in an encounter at Achgoza. Ashiq Ahmad Nengroo started working as OGW for prescribed JeM Outfit and besides providing every possible assistance to the terrorists he was also transporting smuggled weapons for the terrorists in his vehicle from one place to another. Ashiq Ahmad Nengroo was finally arrested by Police Station Pulwama in case FIR No. 129/2013 U/S 302 RPC, 7/27 IA Act during the year 2013.Ashiq Ahmad Nengroo was arrested in the said case was later on bailed out by the Honorable court,” the statement said.
“He operated under code name @ amjid bhai and was tasked to ferry terrorists who would cross through international border into Kashmir valley. Later, it is learnt that from 2016 to 2018 subject ferried more than 20 Pakistani terrorists and huge arms and ammunition into valley using his trucks,” it said.
“On 12/09/2018, Udhampur Police intercepted one truck JK03F 1476 at Jhagar Kotli which was ferrying terrorist. Terrorists managed to escape but two OGWs Iqbal Rather of Chari sharif Budgam and brother of subject Reyaz Ahmad who was driving the truck were arrested. During investigation it was established that it was Ashiq Negroo who had managed the infiltration and was accompanying the terrorist. In this regard, a case FIR No 89/2018 u/s 307,120B, 121/122, 123 RPC, 7/25, 26/27 IA Act, 16,18 UA (P) Act was registered in P/S Jajjar Kotli. The case was later on transferred to NIA and Ashiq Nengroo was charge sheeted as accused before the court of law. Vehicle used in the crime was also seized by the investigation agency.NIA on 26/02/2020 also seized another Truck of the subject bearing Registration No. JK03G-1621 which was registered in the name of Jehangir ahmad Bhat s/o Noor Mohammad Bhat R/o Khanbal Anantnag but was brought and operated by the subject as proceeds of terror,” the statement said.
“After being exposed in the terror crime subject went underground to escape arrest and crossed over to LOC. Reports pour in reveals that Ashiq Ahmad Nengroo is running JeM network at POK and is involved in motivating/preparing youth to infiltrate to valley for terrorist activities,” the statement added.
Officials said that during interrogation of his brother Riyaz Ahmad Nengroo, he revealed that Ashiq Nengroo was accompanying the truck which brought 3 terrorists from Kathua in his truck who were later eliminated in Katra encounter. “He also revealed that Ashiq owns 02 trucks, which he used for terrorism related activities of JeM and the subject is absconding since arrest of his brother Riyaz,” the statement said.
“He has one newly constructed double story residential house at New Colony Rajpora, one old double storey residential house at Hanjan Balla, one truck which has been seized by NIA, 07 Kanals of orchard land, 06 Kanals at Hanjan Balla and 01 Kanal at Ayangund, and also owns two bikes,” the statement said.
