
In a substantial relief to households with pending electricity dues, the Jammu and Kashmir Government has extended the Amnesty Scheme for Domestic Consumers–2022 till March 31, 2026.
According to Government Order No. 114-JKPDD of 2025, issued by the Power Development Department, the extension will be governed by the same terms and conditions previously outlined in Order No. 103-PDD of 2022 and Order No. 47-JKPDD of 2024. A notable addition to the revised scheme is a 100% waiver of interest and surcharge on outstanding electricity bills as of March 31, 2025.
The decision to extend the scheme was approved by the Council of Ministers via Decision No. 074/14/2025 dated July 29, and was formally notified today by the concerned department.
The scheme shall go a long way in providing relief to 6 lakh domestic consumers, who have been struggling with outstanding electricity dues.
To avail the benefits of this scheme, the consumers have to pay the outstanding dues by 31st March 2026 in equal installments and must also pay their current bills regularly without failure.
The domestic consumers who wish to avail the scheme have been advised to contact their local electricity offices or visit the official website for more information. The deadline to avail the benefits under this scheme is March 31, 2026.
