Govt girls school wins Handwara Women’s Cricket

Handwara, Oct 6: The Women’s Cricket Tournament concluded today at the District Police Lines Ground, Kulangam Handwara, with Govt Girls Higher Secondary School Handwara emerging as the champions after defeating Monarch Secondary School Handwara in an exciting final.

The tournament was jointly organised by Terrific Trio Trust and Monarch Secondary School Handwara, in collaboration with Handwara Police, with six women’s cricket teams from various schools across the Handwara region participating in the competition.
The participating teams included Monarch Secondary School Handwara, Prime Institute Secondary School Kulangam, My New School Drugmulla, Elvis Garden Public School Handwara, Hill Grange Secondary School Handwara, and Govt Girls Higher Secondary School Handwara.
Played in the fast-paced T-10 knockout format, with one match scheduled each day, the eight-day tournament provided the young players with a vibrant and positive sporting platform to showcase their talent, determination and competitive spirit.
Simran Jan was adjudged Player of the Match, while Tamina Jan of Monarch Secondary School Handwara was declared Player of the Tournament for her outstanding performance throughout the competition.
The successful conclusion of the tournament reflects the commitment of J&K Police towards promoting sports, encouraging greater participation of girls in athletics, fostering teamwork and discipline, and providing youth with constructive avenues for talent development. Such community-oriented initiatives continue to strengthen police-public engagement while nurturing a healthy and vibrant sporting culture among the youth.
