The J&K government on Monday ordered a probe into the death of a minor boy in north Kashmir’s Bandipora due to alleged medical negligence.
Umer Ahmad, 13, a resident of Bandipora, had tripped on Sunday and fell into Kishanganga river,. However, a quick response by nearby people resulted in retrieval of the boy from the river after which he was rushed to Bagtore health centre where no doctor was allegedly present.
Delay in providing him medical care resulted in the death of the boy, officials said.
Due to the absence of the doctor, a protest demonstration was held by locals who demanded that the concerned doctor should be suspended whose absence resulted in the minor boy’s death.
Following the death, Chief Medical Officer Bandipora ordered an inquiry into the matter.. The committee will be headed by Dr Asif Khan with Dr Mohd Asif Khan, Dr Parvaiz Ahmad Wani, Dr Manzoor Ahmad and Mohd Yaqoob Nasir as its members.
The committee will submit a factual report with specific recommendations to the office of CMO within five days, the order said.
