
The upper reaches of Kashmir including the ski resort of Gulmarg received fresh snowfall while plains including Srinagar were lashed by rains on Wednesday.
A MeT official said the ski resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district and tourist spot of Sonamarg in central Kashmir received a fresh snowfall today.
The Gurez valley and Tuail in Bandipora district also received fresh snowfall.
The plains including Srinagar were lashed by rains.
The MeT has predicted that widespread light to moderate rain or snow coupled with the thunder over Jammu and Kashmir during the next 24 hours.
“The weather will remain partially to generally cloudy today with the possibility of widespread rain or snow at most of the places over Jammu and Kashmir,” the MeT official said.
He said weather is likely to remain dry from March 15 to March 20,” the MeT office said.
Gulmarg and Pahalgam recorded subzero temperatures during the night.
“The night temperature at Pahalgam dropped to -0.5 degrees Celsius. The temperature at the ski resort settled at -1.2 degrees Celsius,” the MeT official said.
The night temperature in Srinagar settled at 5.4 degrees Celsius. Qazigund recorded a low of 3.4 degrees Celsius while night temperature in Kokernag settled at 4.2 degrees Celsius.
Kupwara recorded a low of 4.5 degrees Celsius as against 4.0°C during the previous night.
