
The Handicrafts and Handloom Department Baramulla organized a day-long Artisan Exhibition cum Awareness Camp at the Handicrafts Block Sopore.
The event was inaugurated by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Sopore, Shabir Ahmad Raina and was attended by
Handicrafts Training Officer (HTO) Sopore, Owais Ahmad ,Craft Instructors, artisans, members of various Industrial Cooperative Societies and trainees from different training centers.
Addressing the gathering, ADC Sopore, Shabir Ahmad Raina, emphasized that the objective of the camp was to create awareness among artisans about various welfare schemes and programs offered by the department.
He urged artisans to register with the department to avail the benefits of these schemes, which aim to support them in achieving economic independence.
During the event, HTO Sopore apprised the participants about the various training programs, cooperative initiatives, and design support available through the School of Designs, Srinagar.
He also highlighted the benefits of the newly launched Credit Card Scheme, which provides artisans with a financial aid of Rs 2 lakh, along with a 7% subsidy for five years from the date of disbursement.
On the occasion, ADC distributed appreciation certificates to extraordinary trainees from various training centers of Block Sopore.
