
In a moment of immense pride for Uttarakhand, Harshita, a class 12 student of Vikram Birla Institute of Learning, clinched the gold medal at the Open North Zone Taekwondo Championship, held on 15th July at an indoor stadium in Haryana.
The championship, organized in memory of Late Smt. Laxmi, witnessed participation from over 300 athletes from across the region. Competing in the under-46 kg category, Harshita displayed remarkable skill and determination, defeating top contenders to emerge as the champion. In recognition of her achievement, she was awarded a cash prize of ₹11,000 along with the gold medal.
Her coach, Kamlesh Tiwari, and school principal, Pravesh Mehra, expressed heartfelt congratulations. “Harshita’s victory is not just a personal milestone, but a proud moment for the entire state. Her dedication, discipline, and commitment to her goals are truly inspiring,” said Principal Mehra.
