Hazrat Ali (AS) was a pinnacle of courage, justice, valor and sincerity. He was the bravest man and his bravery had no equal. His undaunted courage is a universally admitted fact. In all battles of Islamic history fought during the time of prophet Mohammad (PBUH) against the non believers, Ali (as) stood tall and second to none. The sword of Hazrat Ali known as Zulfikar brought victory to Muslims in all the battles fought in the company of the Prophet (PBUH).His name was a fear to non-believers. Who forgets the astonishing victories of Badr, Khandaq , Khyber where Ali demonstrated his unparalleled power. In the battle of Khyber Ali killed Marhab and broke open the iron door of the fort only by his hand and devastated the enemy single handedly. For his exemplary velour Ali was given the title of "Lion Of God ".

Hazrat Ali is the hero of Islam. He was the first Muslim to embrace Islam and ranks top in supporting the cause of Islam. Allama Iqbal in his poetic verses pays tribute to Hazrat Ali AS :
"Muslim e Awwal Shahai Mardan Ali,
Ishq Rao Sarmai Imam Ali.
Ali is the first Muslim .He is the king of all men .To love Ali (a.s) is to possess the wealth of faith.
From early childhood Hazrat Ali(AS) followed the prophet (PBUH) and demonstrated courage and adherence to Islam . His character made him a symbol of faith . His vast knowledge of the Quran, exemplary knowledge, virtues of justice, obedience to Prophet (PBUH), love for God and Islamic principles made him an ideal for all the Muslims .
Hazrat Ali is respected by all religions and schools of thought .Be it sufi, poet or preachers. Allama Iqbal was so enlightened by Hazrat Ali that he expressed it in his verses as :
"Yeh Hai Iqbal Faize Yade Maame Murtaza jis say,
Nigahe Fiker Main Khilwat Sarai La Makan Tak Hai."
These are the blessings of the name of Ali that have enlightened me up to the sphere of God.
Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) during the battle of Khyber, when everyone found it difficult to conquer the fort, said ," Tomorrow I will hand over the flag of leadership to a brave man who advances towards enemies with valor and does not retreat till he gains victory. God and the Prophet of God love him and he loves the prophet and God". The next day the flag was given to Ali and he conquered the fort and killed Marhab the monster.
Hazrat Ali used to lead a very simple life living on barley flour. Sometimes he would eat a loaf of bread with water yet he had the strength of killing Marhab and breaking open the weight iron door of Khyber . Iqbal beautifully puts it as :
Jisai Naani Joya Bakhshi hai Tu Nai,
Usai Bazoai Hyder Bi Ata Kar.
" Oh God !!!give the one who feeds on mere barley power like Hazrat Ali."
Hazrat Ali is the distributor of the cup of wine in paradise. Allama Iqbal says the greatest kingdom of this world is under the feet of Hazrat Ali. He says :
"Zaire Pash Eenja Shikohi Khayber Ast,
Dast - Oo Anja Qaseem-e- Kouser Ast "
Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) has said " Ali is the master of Kouser "( a canal of sweet water in paradise).
The sword of Ali is called Zulfikar and has won the all battles which Muslims fought against non-believers.
The world has even not spared such an exalted personality about whom the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) has said,"looking at Ali's face is a gate way to heaven".
After Prophet Mohammad left this world Ali used to move to the out skirts of the place where he lived in complete darkness. He used to talk to well in isolation. The greatest tragedy for a knowledgeable person is when people don't understand him. Hazrat Ali who made the Islamic empire in the company of prophet Mohammad ( PBUH) and about whom the prophet has said, " I am the city of knowledge and Ali it's gate" always tried to teach people . He wanted people around to listen to him for their betterment.
The personality who sacrificed everything for the upliftment of Islam was deceived by the people. His whole family was martyred in Karbala. His sons , daughter, grandchildren where martyred . They were deprived of water and food. People forgot this great companion of Prophet just few years after his death. His whole family was slaughtered by Boucher’s who listened to the same Azaan and recited the same Quran.
