Longding, July 29: Assam Rifles organised a World Hepatitis Day awareness programme and medical camp at District Hospital, Longding, focusing on hepatitis prevention, early detection and timely medical intervention.

The initiative was aimed at spreading awareness among local residents about the causes, symptoms, prevention strategies and treatment options related to hepatitis. A large number of participants were sensitised about the importance of vaccination, maintaining hygiene, adopting healthy lifestyle practices and seeking early medical advice to prevent complications.
The awareness programme was attended by medical professionals, including one doctor and five healthcare staff, along with around 30 civilians from the local community. Medical experts interacted with participants and provided valuable information on different types of hepatitis, modes of transmission and precautions required to reduce the risk of infection.
A medical camp was also organised as part of the programme, where basic health check-ups and consultations were provided to the attendees. The medical team guided people on preventive healthcare measures and encouraged regular health monitoring for early identification of health concerns.
Assam Rifles officials highlighted that such community outreach programmes are part of the force’s continued commitment towards improving healthcare awareness and extending medical support to people living in remote areas of the Northeast.
The initiative also strengthened civil-military cooperation by bringing together healthcare professionals, security personnel and local residents on a common platform for community welfare.
Through regular health awareness campaigns, medical camps and humanitarian activities, Assam Rifles continues to contribute towards preventive healthcare, social development and stronger bonds with communities across the region.
