
Bandipora, Jan 28: At least ten people were injured when a double-storied house collapsed during a condolence gathering in Chandergir village, Hajin area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Wednesday.
Officials said the house, belonging to the late Ghulam Mohammad Dar, a former Fire and Emergency Services personnel, gave way under the weight of the large number of mourners gathered following his death. Several people were trapped under debris before being rescued.
Among the injured were women identified as Sara Begum, Meema Begum, Bilkisa Begum, Raja Begum, and Haleema Begum, all from Chandergir village. Five were admitted to CHC Hajin and the remaining five to Safapora hospital; all are reported to be stable.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated an investigation to determine the exact cause of the collapse.
