Authorities have demolished houses of three more terrorists in Bandipora, Pulwama and Shopian districts of Jammu and Kashmir as security forces continued their crackdown after the Pahalgam terror attack in which 25 tourists and a local resident were killed.
Sources said the house of Adnan Shafi, who had joined terrorist ranks last year, was demolished at Wandina in Shopian district on Saturday night.
They said the house of another active terrorist –Amir Nazir — was demolished in Pulwama district.
In Bandipora district, the house of LeT terrorist Jameel Ahmad Shergojri was demolished. Shergojri has been an active terrorist since 2016.
With this, the total number of houses of terrorists and their overground workers demolished since the Pahalgam attack has gone up to nine.
Meanwhile, police said two “hardcore” Over Ground Workers (OGWs) were detained under the Public Safety Act (PSA) in Budgam district of central Kashmir.
“In a decisive move against terrorism and acting tough against anti-national elements (ANEs) District Police Budgam detained two "hardcore" OGWs Tahir Ahmad Kumar of Pakerpora and Shabir Ahmad Ganai of Karpora Pakerpora, under PSA,” a police spokesman said.
“The arrests followed sustained efforts and actionable intelligence indicating the involvement of the duo in providing active support to terrorist outfits operating in the region,” police said.
Police and security agencies have launched a massive crackdown against militants and their sympathisers across the Valley and over 2000 suspected persons have been picked up for questioning.
