Srinagar, Jan 19: On 8 March 2026, as the world commemorates International Women’s Day, the International Human Rights Organization – Jammu & Kashmir Chapter (IHRO) proudly celebrates this global occasion on the historic land of Kashmir, reaffirming its steadfast commitment to women’s empowerment, gender equality, human dignity, and social justice.
To mark this significant day, IHRO Jammu & Kashmir Chapter will confer Hosla Afzai (Encouragement) Awards upon 100 exceptional women from across the Kashmir Division, recognising their remarkable contributions in diverse fields. Among these distinguished honourees, Mrs. Safa Arshid will be felicitated by IHRO—an honour that brings immense pride to the organization.
Mrs. Safa Arshid, an Advocate and Assistant Legal Aid Counsel (DLSA), is widely respected for her dedication to justice and social service. Through her role with the District Legal Services Authority, she provides free legal aid to undertrial prisoners and economically disadvantaged individuals, ensuring access to justice for those unable to afford legal representation.
From the early stages of her career, she voluntarily extended legal assistance to widows and orphans, reflecting her strong humanitarian values. Actively engaged in court proceedings, legal counselling, and drafting of petitions, she consistently works to protect constitutional rights and uphold the rule of law for vulnerable sections of society.
Beyond her legal practice, Mrs. Safa Arshid is a writer, peace activist, and social worker, deeply involved in initiatives promoting social harmony and community welfare, particularly among the marginalised people of Jammu and Kashmir. Her journey stands as a powerful example of ethical legal practice, compassion, and unwavering dedication to justice and peace.
