SSP Srinagar Imtiyaz Hussain inaugurates facility
In a major boost to community healthcare, Imam Hussain Hospital in Bemina has begun offering free medical services to the underprivileged. The hospital was officially inaugurated by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Srinagar, Imtiyaz Hussain, and will operate round the clock to cater to patients in need.
In an exclusive conversation with Brighter Kashmir, Medical Superintendent Dr. Iftikar Hussain said the hospital is committed to providing accessible healthcare to the poor and needy.
“The hospital is functional 24/7,” said Dr. Hussain. “We have facilities including ambulance services and diagnostic centres to assist patients at all hours.”
He added that one dedicated ambulance is available for patient transport, charged at a nominal rate of Rs 25 per kilometre to ensure affordability.
Highlighting the services on offer, Dr. Hussain said, “We have visiting specialist doctors as well, including ENT, orthopaedics, and physiotherapy. Patients are seen by appointment to ensure proper attention and care.”
He emphasized that the hospital operates as a charitable institution, with all services provided at significantly reduced or nominal charges.
“Our goal is to serve the community with compassion and ensure that no one is denied treatment due to lack of resources,” he said.
The initiative is expected to greatly benefit the economically weaker sections of society and contribute to better public health outcomes in the region.
