
Responding to several complaints of roads being in a state of disrepair in Jammu and Kashmir’s Budgam district, the Union Territory administration has initiated prompt action through the office of the Executive Engineer, Public Works Department (R&B), Chadoora.
Earlier this week, it was reported that angry residents of Budgam had started protesting against concerned government departments for not macadamising several dilapidated roads in the area.
These included NasrullahporaRoad, Graind, Laden, Chadoora to Branwar, Chadoora to Nilnag, Zinpanchal to Chararipora, Repora to Yarikalan, Bugroo to DoodhpathriRoad, etc.
Inhabitants of these areas complained that these dilapidated roads were making commuting very difficult and challenging.
They further revealed that that they had appealed to Budgam District CommissionerSyed Shahbaz Mirza to take immediate steps to repair these damaged roads.
Following the lodging of the complaints, the office of the Executive Engineer, Public Works Department (R&B), Chadoora, has informed that a DPR has been framed under NABARD for an amount of Rs. 662.06 lakhs and tenders have been invited for the Chadoora to Brenwar Road from KM1 to KM8.
As far as the roads from Hanjura to Brenwar and Nagam to Nilnag are concerned, the executive engineer’s office revealed that these stretches were under the jurisdiction of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).
It was further revealed that approval has been given for the construction of the road from Chadoora to Nagam and the road from Repora to Yarikalan under the C&T program 2022-23 repectively.
The office of the executive engineer said in its action taken report (ATR) that field staff had informed that there was no option for constructing a road betweenZinpanchal to Chararipora at present.
