
Minister for Health, Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education, Sakeena Itoo, along with Minister for Food, Civil Supplies, IT and Transport, Satish Sharma, today visited Imam Bara Zadibal and Imam Bara Hassanabad to review preparations for the upcoming holy month of Muharram-ul-Haram.
At Imam Bara Zadibal, the Ministers interacted with local leaders and community representatives. Also present were MLA Zadibal Tanvir Ali Sadiq, MLA Hazratbal Salman Ali Sagar, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Commissioner SMC, Director FCS&CA, Director Health Services, Chief Engineer KPDCL, and officials from allied departments.
Minister Sakeena emphasized the spiritual importance of Muharram and stressed ensuring dignity, safety, and comfort for mourners. She directed deployment of adequate health staff, ambulances, and mobile blood storage units along procession routes. She also asked for the establishment of a district-level control room for better coordination among departments.
Instructions were given for uninterrupted power and water supply, improved sanitation, and traffic regulation. The SMC was directed to undertake desilting of drains and ensure cleanliness in Zadibal, Alamgari Bazar, Madain Sahib Hawal, and other key procession routes.
Minister Satish Sharma assured the public that sufficient stocks of essential commodities will be maintained. Minister Sakeena also paid obeisance at the shrine of Mir Shams-ud-din Araqi (RA).
Later, the Ministers visited Imam Bara Hassanabad and toured Mir Behri Dal and nearby Shia-populated areas, interacting with locals and reviewing on-ground arrangements.
Minister Sakeena assured residents of prompt redressal of genuine concerns and deployment of adequate school staff. Minister Satish Sharma announced sufficient ration availability and installation of solar lighting in the area.
Both Ministers reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring smooth and respectful observance of Muharram.
