Raids carried out with help of JK Police & CRPF
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) carried out searches in at least a dozen places in the Kashmir division on Wednesday in connection with the Jammu IED case.
The raids carried out in coordination with the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), led to the recovery of incriminating material and digital devices from the premises of the suspects involved in the case, an NIA spokesperson said.
The sleuths raided the residences of Aijaz Ahmad Wani (a tailor) in the Barapather area and Faizan Mushtaq Bhat (a student) in the Sir Syed Abad area of Batamaloo and seized a total of six mobile phones.
In Srinagar’s Baghi Mehtab area, NIA sleuths searched the residence of Imran Ahmad Khan. They also raided the rented accommodation of Bilal Ahmad Malik, a laboratory technician at the C D Hospital. Malik was staying in the Khul Noorabad area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district in a house owned by Habibullah Thakur.
In South Kashmir’s Konibal Pampore area, the house of Arif Ahmad Rather, a plumber, was raided, while in Anantnag’s Matipora Mattan area, a NIA-Jammu and Kashmir Police team led DSP Anil Kumar raided the houses of Ghulam Rather and Abdul Rasheed Dar.
In northern Kashmir, a NIA-Sopore Police team raided the house of Irfan Ahmad Mir in the Bomai area.
Similar searches were made in the house of Ghulam Hassan Nijar, a resident of Kupwara and Wasim Ahmed Mir, a resident of Lone Harrie Kralpora.
NIA sources confirmed these raids to the news agency Kashmir Dot Com and said further details will be shared later.
It may be recalled that on June 27 last year, five accused persons were arrested in connection with the recovery of an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) from Jammu's Bhatindi area. Three of the five were charged on December 22, 2021.
