Suspected Pak drone sighted along LoC
Jammu, June 16: Four Army men including a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) were injured in an accidental landmine blast along the Line of Control (LoC) in Nowshera sector of Rajouri district on Tuesday.
Sources said the blast occurred in a forward area along the LoC when a landmine accidentally exploded during operational activity, leaving four soldiers including a JCO injured.
The injured soldiers were evacuated to nearby hospital, where from they were airlifted to army hospital, Udhampur for specialized treatment.
Sources said the blast was caused by accidental activation of a landmine during area domination patrol by Army personnel in forward Kalal area of Nowshera sector.
The Nowshera sector, situated along the Line of Control in Rajouri district, remains a sensitive area with extensive defensive deployments, including minefields laid as part of security measures.
Meanwhile, a suspected Pakistani drone was sighted over a forward village along the International Border in Rajouri district.
The drone-like object with a blinking light was seen moving from the PoK side into the Indian side in Sunderbani sector late Monday night, the sources said.
They said the suspected drone returned after briefly hovering between Mahadev Gap and Kalal village.
Security forces searched the area Tuesday morning to ensure there is no airdropping of any payload like narcotics or weapons.
However, nothing objectionable was recovered during the search operation, sources said.
