Srinagar, Sep 18 : The Screening Test for the Jammu & Kashmir Senior and Sub-Junior Ball Badminton Teams was successfully conducted today at the Sher-E-Kashmir Indoor Sports Complex (SKISC), Srinagar, for their participation in the upcoming National Championships.

The J&K Senior Team will participate in the 72nd Senior National Ball Badminton Championship 2026–27, scheduled to be held in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, from 23 to 29 September 2026, while the J&K Sub-Junior Team will participate in the 45th Sub-Junior National Ball Badminton Championship 2026–27, scheduled to be held in Durg, Chhattisgarh, from 03 to 07 October 2026.
The selection process commenced with Selection Trials organized by the J&K Ball Badminton Association under the supervision of the J&K Sports Council. The Senior Team Selection Trials were conducted on 24 August 2026, while the Sub-Junior Team Selection Trials were held on 14 September 2026 at the Sher-E-Kashmir Indoor Sports Complex, Srinagar.
The shortlisted players subsequently underwent a Residential Coaching Camp at the same venue, where 16 boys and 16 girls were retained in the camp for intensive training, physical preparation and competitive exposure under professional guidance.
During today’s final screening, the J&K Sports Council Screening Committee, in consultation with the J&K Ball Badminton Association, finalized the teams comprising 10 boys and 10 girls. These 20 players have been selected to represent Jammu & Kashmir in the respective National Championships. The final selection was made on the basis of the players’ performance, fitness, discipline and overall preparedness during the screening and coaching process.

The Screening Committee and members of the J&K Ball Badminton Association interacted with the players and encouraged them to maintain discipline, sportsmanship and dedication while representing Jammu & Kashmir at the national level. They conveyed their best wishes to both teams for their upcoming National Championships.
