Reaffirming its commitment to the Jammu & Kashmir Government’s flagship Mission YUVA programme aimed at promoting self-employment and entrepreneurship among youth, J&K Bank on Friday observed “Mission YUVA Disbursal Day” across the Union Territory in a mission mode to fast-track credit delivery to approved beneficiaries.

The special single-day drive culminated with the symbolic pressing of a button by Managing Director & CEO Amitava Chatterjee, marking the successful disbursement of 1,263 cases against a target of 1,111 cases under Mission YUVA. The event was attended virtually by Executive Director Sudhir Gupta, Chief General Manager Imtiyaz Ahmad, General Managers, Divisional Heads, Zonal Heads and other senior officers of the Bank.
Congratulating the operational heads and frontline teams, the MD & CEO lauded their coordinated efforts in translating loan sanctions into timely disbursements. “The successful rollout of Mission YUVA reflects the collective commitment of all stakeholders. I am particularly encouraged by the positive feedback from Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, who is closely monitoring the programme and has expressed satisfaction with the momentum it has gained,” Chatterjee said.
Highlighting the broader vision of the initiative, he said Mission YUVA is not merely a lending programme but a transformative initiative to unlock the entrepreneurial potential of Jammu and Kashmir’s youth. “As the principal banking partner, J&K Bank remains fully committed to converting this vision into sustainable livelihood opportunities for the people of the UT,” he added.
Stressing long-term outcomes, Chatterjee noted that with its comprehensive design and strong institutional backing, Mission YUVA has the potential to emerge as a benchmark employment-generation initiative at both UT and national levels. He also said the programme complements the Bank’s strong focus on MSME lending, an approach that recently earned J&K Bank recognition as the Best MSME Bank by the Chamber of Indian Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.
Executive Director Sudhir Gupta said J&K Bank carries a deep socio-economic responsibility towards the people of Jammu and Kashmir, and ensuring the success of Mission YUVA is a key part of that commitment. “The scheme is a powerful instrument for nurturing entrepreneurship and accelerating inclusive growth across the region,” he said, expressing confidence that the Bank would continue to achieve new milestones.
The special drive was conducted under the supervision of the Bank’s Retail, Agriculture and MSME (RAM) Vertical, with Zonal and Cluster Heads closely monitoring progress and providing on-the-spot support to branches. Branches also completed pre-disbursement formalities in advance to ensure same-day credit to beneficiaries.
